Malaika App

Privacy Policy

Last modified: September 14, 2026 · Version 1.0

Introduction

Your privacy matters to KSG Pro, Corp., doing business as “Malaika” (“Malaika,” “we,” or “us”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information about the people who use Malaika — both Malaika Clients (people who book hair braiding and related services through our platform) and Malaika Providers (independent hair braiders and stylists who offer their services through our platform) — collectively, “Malaika Users” or “you.”

This policy applies to information we collect through the Malaika mobile application (the “Malaika App”) and our website (collectively, the “Malaika Services”). It does not apply to information you exchange directly with another Malaika User outside of the Malaika Services, or to information collected by third parties, including third-party links you may access through the Malaika Services. We encourage you to review the privacy practices of any third party before sharing information with them.

This Privacy Policy is incorporated by reference into the Malaika Client Terms of Use and the Malaika Provider Terms of Use.

Please read this policy carefully. By downloading or using the Malaika App, or by registering for the Malaika Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. We may update this policy from time to time, and your continued use of the Malaika Services after changes take effect means you accept those changes. We recommend checking this page periodically.

Persons Under the Age of 18

The Malaika Services are not intended for individuals under 18 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Malaika Providers must be at least 18 years old to register and offer services on the platform. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a person under 18 without appropriate consent, we will take steps to delete that information.

Information We Collect

Personal Information

We collect information that could reasonably identify you, such as your name, email address, phone number, and home, service, or business address. If you become a registered Malaika User, we collect your login credentials and profile information, including your areas of interest (for Clients) or the services and styles you offer (for Providers).

Provider Verification Information

Because trust and safety are central to a service marketplace, Malaika Providers are asked to submit additional information to verify their identity and build a credible public profile, including:

  • A government-issued photo ID
  • A portfolio of photos showcasing your work
  • Business or salon information, if applicable (e.g., chair-rental location, business name)
  • Any professional certifications or licenses you choose to provide

Some of this information (such as your portfolio, business name, and general service area) may be displayed publicly on your Provider profile so Clients can evaluate and book your services. We will indicate clearly, at the point of collection, what information is shown publicly versus kept private.

Referral and Credit Program Information

If you participate in Malaika's referral or credit programs (for example, sign-up credits or referral bonuses), we collect information necessary to track referral relationships, apply credits to the correct account, and prevent fraud or abuse of the program.

Location Information

The Malaika Services collect real-time information about your device's location. We use this to: (i) match a Client's service request with nearby available Providers so that it can be offered to them as a Lead, (ii) show Providers the service area or travel radius relevant to a Lead, and (iii) support other location-based features, such as prioritizing outreach and availability by zip code or neighborhood. If you do not enable location services, some core features of the Malaika Services — such as finding or being matched with a nearby braider — may not function properly.

Usage and Device Information

When you access the Malaika Services, we may automatically collect details about your device (device identifier, IP address, operating system, browser type, and, for mobile devices, network information), and details about how you use the app, including pages or screens viewed, features used, and the resources you access.

Stored Files

The Malaika App may access metadata and other information associated with files stored on your device, such as when you upload a profile photo or portfolio image.

If you do not want us to collect this information, please do not download the Malaika App or otherwise access the Malaika Services.

Information Collection and Tracking Technologies

We may use the following technologies for automatic information collection:

  • Cookies — small files placed on your device. You can refuse cookies through your device settings, though doing so may limit your ability to use parts of the Malaika Services.
  • Web beacons — small electronic files (also called pixel tags) used to count visits to certain pages or emails and to verify system integrity.
  • Embedded scripts — temporary code that collects information about your interactions with the Malaika Services while you are connected, and is deactivated afterward.

We do not control third-party tracking technologies, and use of third-party cookies is not covered by this policy.

Third-Party Information Collection

Certain third parties may use automatic information collection technologies when you use the Malaika Services, including:

  • Our payments processor, to process Provider Lead Fees and any sign-up or referral credits
  • Analytics providers, to help us understand app usage and improve the Malaika Services
  • Your mobile device manufacturer and mobile service provider
  • Identity-verification vendors, used to confirm Provider identity during onboarding

These third parties may collect information about your activity independently of Malaika. We do not control their tracking technologies. If you have questions about a specific third party, please contact them directly.

How We Use Your Information

Malaika uses the information we collect to:

  • Provide and operate the Malaika Services, including matching a Client's service request with nearby Providers as a Lead
  • Verify Provider identity and maintain trust and safety on the platform
  • Share a Client's contact and job details with the Providers who accept that Client's Lead (currently, up to five Providers per request), so the Client and a selected Provider can arrange the service and its payment directly
  • Process the Lead Fee a Provider is charged when they accept a Lead
  • Administer referral bonuses, sign-up credits, and other incentive programs
  • Recognize and feature Providers in good standing (for example, a “Founding Braider” badge or a social media feature), where the Provider has consented to public showcasing
  • Communicate with you about your account, bookings, and updates to the Malaika Services
  • Improve the Malaika Services and personalize your experience
  • Enforce our Terms of Use and protect the rights, property, and safety of Malaika and our Users

A note on payment for services: Malaika's payment processing covers the Lead Fee a Provider pays to accept a Client's request. Malaika does not process, collect, or store payment for the hair braiding or related service itself — Clients and their selected Provider arrange that payment directly with each other, so Malaika does not require Clients to store a payment method with us unless we separately offer an optional in-app payment feature in the future.

We may also use your information to email you about Malaika's own products or promotions. If you do not want to receive these communications, you can opt out as described in Your Choices below. Your phone number will only be used for the purposes you agreed to when you provided it, including any text communications you've opted into. Malaika does not sell your phone number to third parties for marketing purposes.

Disclosure of Your Information

We may disclose aggregated or de-identified information about Malaika Users, which does not identify any individual, without restriction.

We may disclose personal information that we collect or that you provide:

  • With Providers who accept a Client's Lead, we share that Client's contact and job details so the Client and Provider can arrange the appointment and payment directly; a Client's request and contact details may be visible to more than one Provider at a time (currently, up to five) until the Client selects one
  • With a Client, a Provider's public profile information (such as portfolio, business name, and general service area) once that Provider has accepted the Client's Lead
  • To contractors and service providers who support our business (such as payment processing, hosting, and identity verification) and who are contractually required to keep information confidential and use it only for the purpose we disclose it for
  • To a buyer or successor in the event of a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of some or all of Malaika's assets
  • To comply with a court order, law, or legal process, including government or regulatory requests
  • To enforce our rights under any agreement with you, including billing and collection
  • If we believe it is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Malaika, our Users, or the public, including for fraud prevention
  • With your consent, or to fulfill a purpose you provided the information for

Your Choices About Our Collection, Use, and Disclosure of Your Information

  • Tracking Technologies — you can set your browser or device to refuse cookies, though this may limit access to some features.
  • Location Information — you can disable location access in your device settings, though core matching and Lead-distribution features may not work properly without it.
  • Public Provider Profile — Providers can control which portfolio items and business details are shown publicly through their account settings.
  • Marketing Emails — you can opt out of promotional emails by adjusting your notification preferences in the app, or by emailing privacy@malaikaangels.com.
  • Showcasing — if you do not want to be featured in Malaika's marketing or social media (for example, as a “top braider”), you can opt out at any time by contacting us or adjusting your Provider settings.

Accessing and Correcting Your Personal Information

You can review and update most of your personal information by logging into the Malaika App and visiting your account or profile settings. You may also email privacy@malaikaangels.com to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information you've provided to us. Because deleting certain personal information may require closing your account, we will explain any such trade-offs when you make a request. We may decline a request if we believe fulfilling it would violate the law or cause information in our records to become inaccurate.

Your State Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights regarding your personal information under state privacy laws, including in the states where Malaika primarily operates:

  • Maryland — Maryland residents may have rights under the Maryland Online Data Privacy Act, including rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of certain personal data, and to opt out of certain uses such as targeted advertising.
  • Virginia — Virginia residents may have rights under the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, including the right to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of their personal data, and to opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data, or certain profiling.
  • District of Columbia — We will honor requests from D.C. residents consistent with applicable D.C. consumer protection and privacy laws.
  • California — If you are a California resident, Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits you to request information about our disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes.

To exercise any of these rights, please email privacy@malaikaangels.com. We will respond consistent with applicable law. This section provides a general summary and is not a complete statement of your rights; you may wish to consult the applicable state statute directly.

Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Malaika Services, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed for these purposes, we take steps to delete or de-identify it.

Data Security

We have implemented measures designed to protect your personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. Information you provide is stored on secure servers and encrypted in transit using industry-standard technology.

The security of your information also depends on you. If Malaika has given you (or you have chosen) a password to access the Malaika Services, you are responsible for keeping it confidential and should not share it with anyone. Unfortunately, no transmission of data over the internet or a mobile network can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk, and we are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures we provide.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal or operational reasons. We will post the updated policy with a new “Last Modified” date, and, for material changes, we will provide additional notice, such as an in-app notification or email.
